Derrick Rose Didn't Participate in Bulls' Recruitment of Carmelo Anthony [VIDEO]

Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose did not participate in the team's recruitment of free agent Carmelo Anthony, and was busy shooting jumpers during his daily workout instead of trying to convince the high-scoring forward to leave the New York and join him in the Windy City.

ESPN.com reported that Rose was in the middle of his daily workout routine when Anthony came to the United Center with Bulls officials. One source told the website that Rose was 'actually surprised' to see Anthony in the building.

Rose did stop his workout to briefly exchange pleasantries with Anthony, but the same source said that was his only participation in the Bulls' pursuit of the 11-year-veteran.

This is in sharp contrast to teammates Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson who were part of the Bulls' prepared recruitment presentation. But the front office of the team did not ask their franchise star to join them in trying to convince Anthony to sign with the Bulls.

ESPN quoted a source as saying: "Derrick wasn't bothered that he wasn't a part of it. He was just kind of shocked, like, 'Man, I didn't get the memo.'"

Rose works out daily at the United Center from 9 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon.

Curiously, Rose did not attend the dinner that the Bulls top brass had prepared for Anthony on Tuesday.

Still, the same source said Rose would have joined the team in their recruitment pitch to Anthony if the team officials requested him to do so.
