Colin Kaepernick, the San Francisco 49ers’ $126 million man under center, is known almost as well for his ornate body art as he is his on-field exploits. The quarterback put some of that new deal money into a huge piece on the side that depicts a tree trunk with money for roots as well as an arm, wrapped up by a snake, reaching up for the money.

The 49ers will just be hoping that the big money Kapernick was paid this offseason won’t detract from his efforts on the field since $61 million of that contract is guaranteed. He proved worth the payday in his first full season as a starter though, racking up a career-high 3,197 yards through the air to go with 21 touchdowns and just eight interceptions. He showed good accuracy as well, completing 58.4 percent of his passes while attempting 26 passes per game.
What separates Kaepernick from most of his peers, though, is his ability to do damage with his legs. Last season Kaepernick rushed 92 times for 524 yards and four touchdowns. While those are impressive totals for a quarterback, he actually chewed up nearly as much yardage (415) the previous season when he only started seven games. He also scored five rushing touchdowns in 2012.
The tattoo was a big hit on Instagram, generating over 57,000 likes on the post and more than 2,000 comments.
