A max contract has finally been signed, but it’s not the player you think it is. Utah Jazz forward Gordon Hayward has signed a four-year, $63 million offer sheet with the Charlotte Hornets.
The Jazz have three days to either match Hayward's offer sheet or let him walk, but they have said in the past they would match any offer their forward receives. Despite the debate among media and fans, Hayward will receive a max contract from either the Jazz or Hornets in the coming days.

The Jazz and Hayward had opened up contract negotiations after the 2012-13 season, but the two sides could not come to an agreement. Hayward had expressed his interest in receiving a max contract, but many were skeptical that his body of work wasn't deserving of that kind of money.
Hayward recorded career highs across the board in 2013-14 as he averaged 16.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Haywards’ numbers are expected to be even better this coming season and has improved every year since Utah made him the No. 9 overall pick out of Butler in 2010.
It looks like a no-brainer that the Jazz will be matching the Hornets offer and Hayward will be the latest NBA player to receive a max contract.
