New York Knicks Rumors: Carmelo Anthony Has 'Faint Hope' LeBron James Will Play For Phil Jackson [VIDEO]

As the world waits for LeBron James to make a decision on his NBA future, Carmelo Anthony is holding onto faint hope that James will make his way to New York.

The New York Post's Marc Berman, Anthony hasn't made a decision on his future because he "has held out faint hope Knicks president Phil Jackson can pull a miracle and clear out the necessary salary cap space to get it done, but he is running out of time. Anthony’s decision could come in the next couple of days.”

“He really wants LeBron to come to New York,’’ a source told Berman. “That’s his dream right now. Phil is trying to get it done.’’

The latest rumors surrounding James are that his decision was narrowed down to the Miami Heat or the Cleveland Cavaliers, but if the Knicks could clear the cap space would he reconsider to pair with Carmelo?

Berman believes in order for the Knicks to have a chance to land James, they need to shed a massive amount of salary cap in a short amount of time. Among the players they need to move are the massive expiring contacts of Amar’e Stoudemire and Andrea Bargnani as well as Iman Shumpert.

Even if the Knicks move all those contracts, they still wouldn’t be able to offer two max contracts. Either James or Anthony would have to take less money and both players have made it clear that anything less than the max will not cut it.

Carmelo is expected to resign with the Knicks while LeBron will make his decision of either the Cavaliers or Heat in the coming weeks.
