In the United States, Gisele Bundchen is best known for being the wife of Tom Brady, arguably the greatest quarterback in NFL history. Others know her better for her long career as a Victoria’s Secret model. If her Instagram is any indication though, she might be best described as a huge Brazil soccer fan.
The first photo shows Bundchen posing with the World Cup trophy, something her Brazilians will unfortunately not have a chance to win this year. As any good ambassador would, though, she neglected to mention Brazil’s humiliating 7-1 defeat in the quarterfinals vs. Germany, which occurred without Thiago Silva or Neymar on the pitch because of suspension and injury, respectively.
Instead, she merely captioned the photo “It's a great honor to represent my country and the people of Brazil in tomorrow's celebration. It's beautiful to see how sport has the power to bring the world together. I'm so grateful to be part of this moment. Thank you all Brazilians who have welcomed the world with all their joy and loving spirit.” She also dropped the hashtag #proudofbeingbrazilian in there as a way to nudge her countrymen from hanging their heads.
She was chosen as Louis Vuitton’s guest of honor for the final ceremony because she was seen “as a natural choice for the brand and Fifa, for epitomising the Brazilian woman and spreading her country’s colours all over the world.”
So even though the Brazilian’s won’t be hoisting the trophy, one of their own will be on hand to celebrate the entire tournament.
