An Arjen Robben penalty in the second minute allowed Robin van Persie to give the Dutch a 1-0 lead. Then, just 15 minutes later, Daley Blind doubled the advantage. A poor clearance from center-back David Luiz allowed the 24-year-old to bury a right-footed shot from the center of the box with relative ease.
Twenty minutes into the match, the Netherlands have two shots on goal. Both have beaten goalkeeper Julio Cesar. Brazil is yet to attempt a single one, period.

Entering the match, Brazilian head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari had ambitions of taking a battered side out onto the pitch to restore their pride.
