BRAZIL vs NETHERLANDS Score [PHOTOS]: Dutch Win 3-0 In Third Place Match 2014 FIFA World Cup

The Netherlands secured third place in the 2014 FIFA World Cup by storming out to a 3-0 victory over mighty host Brazil in the third place playoff match live from Estadio Nacional Saturday afternoon.

Robin van Persie opened the scoring by finding the back of the net for the Netherlands on a penalty kick two minutes into the game that provided the Dutch with a 1-0 lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Daley Blind then staked the Dutch to a 2-0 edge after Brazil failed to clear the defensive zone and Blind leaped up to knock the ball down and booted it passed Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar in the 17th minute.

Blind was carted off the field in the second half of the game after suffering an apparent lower-body injury in a collision with Brazil's Oscar. Jordy Clasie was then carted off in the 89th minute.

Georginio Wijnaldum iced the game for the Netherlands when he took a pass that was centered off the right wing from Daryl Janmaat in the 90th minute to give the Dutch a 3-0 lead.

Brazil outshot the Netherlands 11-8 in the game but each team had five shots on goal and Brazil came up short despite having possession of the ball 57 percent of the time compared to just 43 percent for the Netherlands.

The Netherlands is riding high after a huge third place finish in the FIFA World Cup.
