Chad Johnson's greatest sports accomplishment in nearly three years was muted by a referee who refused to get caught up in his celebration over the weekend.

Profootballtalk.nbcsports.com reported that Johnson scored his first touchdown in the Canadian Football League on Friday night. The former Cincinnati Bengals star hauled in a 46-yard touchdown pass from Troy Smith in the first quarter of the Montreal Alouettes game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The Blue Bombers defeated the Alouettes 34-33, but all the attention was on Johnson, whom Pro Football Talk reported scored his first professional touchdown pass since Dec. 18, 2011, when he scored on a 33-yard pass from New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

The 36-year-old Johnson then embraced side judge Jocelyn Paul, who just stood there and did not return Johnson's affection. Johnson then knelt down as teammates surrounded him to congratulate him.

It was Johnson's only catch of the game.

A fan asked him about scoring his first Canadian Football League touchdown on Twitter, and Johnson still came up with a witty remark.

Johnson has three catches for 66 yards with the one TD for the Alouettes through the first three games of the CFL season. He has done well to get back into professional football, but so far little talk has surfaced as to whether his stint in Montreal can lead him back to the NFL, where he hasn't played since 2011.
