Cleveland Cavaliers Rumors: NBA GMs Prefer Andrew Wiggins to Kevin Love? Anonymous Executive Calls Love 'Overrated' [VIDEO]

The Cleveland Cavaliers are currently pursuing a trade for Kevin Love, but the consensus from around the NBA is that Andrew Wiggins is the better player for the longterm and the Cavs should invest in his development instead.

ESPN’s Jeff Goodman reports that more NBA executives prefer Wiggins and his potential to Love and what he offers right now. One unnamed NBA executive even went as far as to calling Love “overrated.”

"Love is so overrated. He's never won," one NBA executive said. "I'd wait if I was Cleveland. I wouldn't involve Wiggins in a trade for Love.”

The overflow of support for Wiggins continued as an NBA general manager added that the short wait for Wiggins could be worth it considering how good his supporting cast is.

"Wiggins is going to be really good in time," added the GM "Right now he can shoot and defend. Playing off LeBron and Kyrie [Irving] will take a lot of the pressure off him in the present. He could become a go-to scorer in a few years.”

Wiggins not only has the potential, but he is a cheap alternative to Love which factored into one executive’s opinion of the two options.

"I feel like Wiggins may only be a year or so away from being a legit contributor," one front-office executive said. "And Wiggins is cheap, so you are able to add more. Love is gonna cost a ton.”

Sure Love would provide the Cavaliers with a third piece to the puzzle and make them much better for the 2014-15 season, but is it worth giving up the player that Wiggins could become? Wiggins was called the next LeBron James coming out of high school and he could become a superstar at a much cheaper price.

The rumored deal that could force the Timberwolves' hand is an offering of Wiggins, Dion Waiters and Anderson Varejao for Kevin Love, but Cavaliers coach David Blatt said the team has no plans to include Wiggins in any deal.
