Derrick Rose Injury Update: Bulls Star On Team USA Roster, Coach K Hears He Is In 'Great Shape' [VIDEO]

Former NBA MVP Derrick Rose's health remains one of the NBA's most intriguing storylines despite the whirlwind movement of players this offseason. The Bulls are one of the most mentioned teams regarding rumors of stars heading to Chicago, but Rose's oft-injured knees are a crucial aspect of their desirability.

Rose was rumored to have worked out in front of Carmelo Anthony to prove he's on track to resume his MVP form, and he will be heading to Las Vegas this month for Team USA practices. USA coach Mike Krzyzewski said that he's hearing positive things about his comeback efforts.

"We'd like to see him play like the Derrick of old, because he's one of the best players in the world, an MVP in the NBA," Coach K said. "What we've heard is that he's in great shape."

Typically there is a glut of talented American point guards, so a rehabbing Rose might face an uphill climb to make the final roster, but stars Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook won't be on this iteration of Team USA, giving him a better shot of sticking.

"Hopefully, this would be a launching pad for him for a great NBA season this upcoming year," Krzyzewski said.

After tearing his ACL in the 2011 playoffs, Rose missed all of the 2011-12 season rehabilitating. He returned last year, but struggled through just 10 games averaging 15.9 points per game with 4.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds. Rose was shooting 35 percent from the field, 11 points off his career shooting. He then sustained a torn meniscus and missed the remainder of last season.
