Club America Transfer News: Raul Jimenez Being Sold To FC Porto This Season?

The future of Club America's Raul Jimenez appears to have finally been decided, with Fox Sports' Ruben Rodriguez reporting (via Twitter) a summer transfer to Portuguese outfit FC Porto this season.

James Rodriguez Reaches Deal With Real Madrid, AS Monaco Offered €85 Million

On Wednesday, Goal's Tom Marshall reported two likely destinations for the 23-year-old striker. Porto remained a likely suitor from the beginning, but German club VfL Wolfsburg were also attempting to stake a claim in his services. In a press conference with the Mexican media, America operating director Jose Romano voiced his ambitions to keep Jimenez for the upcoming Apertura tournament, but understood the need for alternate plans.

"If the offer is good and he goes, we already have a plan B and plan C," said Pelaez in the press conference (via Goal). "There is only one offer, which is a long way from what we want in America. [It's] a loan offer and he's not going on loan."

Real Madrid Purchase Goalkeeper Keylor Navas For €10 Million

Per Rodriguez's report, Jimenez is not going out on loan. A full transfer awaits the Mexican international. Pelaez has already considered reinforcements, proclaiming the club could buy a fifth foreign player to replace him.

Finding an equally productive replacement, however, could prove to be difficult.

In 17 appearances with America last season, Jimenez led the team in goals scored (eight) and was third in chances created (21). The newly acquired Oribe Peralta will help offset the absence of his abilities, but the potential for a deadly strike partnership is all but lost.
