Four-Time Pro Bowler and one-time NFL All-Pro guard Chris Snee is calling it a career after 10 seasons with the New York Giants.

Snee spoke to Giants coach and his father-in-law Tom Coughlin about his status and said the right decision was to retire. Snee missed minicamp last month due to lingering elbow and wrist injuries and said that he wouldn't be at 100 percent if he attempted to practice.
"I take tremendous pride in the effort that I put in the weight room and being the strongest player on the field," the 32-year-old Snee said. "I'm nowhere near that, so I knew that even if I came here today, I wouldn't be able to practice. You're trying to catch up and I've been trying to get my strength back, but I think it's time to just let the arm cool down.”
Snee was a second-round pick for the Giants out of Boston College and only played in three games in 2013. He anchored the Giants offensive line for the better part of a decade and started in 141 games since being drafted in 2004.

Snee said that he and general manager Jerry Reese agreed to play out the offseason to see if Snee could return. The Giants expect veteran John Jerry and third-year guard Brandon Mosley to compete for Snee’s old right guard position.
The Giants enter the 2014 season with a mostly new offensive line as they look make the playoffs after missing out in 2013. The 2013 Giants’ offensive line allowed 39 sacks of quarterback Eli Manning in a season where he couldn't get out of his own way.
