Vincenzo Nibali of team Astana leads the way after 15 stages and two rest days as the rest of the pack looks to gain some ground. Alejandro Valverde of Movistar and Romain Bardet of AG2R trail Nibali by a large margin of more than four and a half minutes.

The riders get back on the trail after their second and final rest day as they prepare for another mountain stage. At 237.5km this is the longest stage of the tour and could also be the most grueling if they racers do not pace themselves throughout. This stage is the make or break for many Tour de France races as any racer with more than a 40 second lead after this stage has claimed the entire tour.

If the cyclists are to catch Nibali, they will have to knock him out of his comfort zone. With most of the major climbs coming at the back end of the stage, the racers have little time to waste of they are to make a move on the yellow jersey. With a four and a half minute lead, Nibali has established himself as the top player of the championship, but anything can happen in the final stages.

In 2010 Andy Schleck lose the yellow jersey after having a medical incident on this very stage and we hope that Nibali can avoid a similar fate.
