The New York Post reports that the Mets have contacted the Rockies and said that if Tulowitzki or Gonzalez are ever made available, they're interested.
The Rockies have remained steadfast that they don't want to deal either one of the players, but given the fact that the franchise is suffering through its fourth straight losing season and hasn't made the postseason since 2009, mixed with the growing contracts of Tulowitzki and Gonzalez, it's possible the stance could change.

It is highly unlikely that Colorado moves either piece ahead of next Thursday's MLB non-waiver trade deadline, but the Mets could look to strike this offseason should the Rockies change their stance on dealing them.
Tulowitzki has reportedly been growing frustrated with wasting his prime in a franchise that has made just two postseason appearances with him on the roster, but he has been rumored to end up on the other side of town with the New York Yankees, possibly as Derek Jeter's successor.
Tulowitzki, who wears No. 2 in honor of Jeter, has a no-trade provision but would likely allow a trade to the Yankees and the Rockies have expressed interest in the Bronx Bomber's top pitching prospect Luis Severino.
The Cardinals also stand as a deep threat to the Mets chances of landing Tulowitzki due to their deep farm system and interest in the shortstop.
Still, the Mets are hungry to improve their team since there hasn't been a playoff game in Queens since 2006 when Shea Stadium was still standing.
The Mets are equipped with deep pitching in the farm system, and given the Rockies need for pitching depth, the two teams could make a perfect match. The Mets are always looking to upgrade over Ruben Tejada at shortstop while they can also use a left fielder now that the Chris Young experiment has gone horribly awry.
The Rockies have reportedly been interested in Noah Syndergaard among other New York prospects, but some issues with the Mets trading for Tulowitzki or CarGo are their injury woes, the two sluggers playing at hitter-friendly Coors Field, and as always with the Mets -- whether or not they have the finances.
Still, the Mets checking in on them means they feel they have the resources to potentially pull off a swap somewhere down the line should the stars align.
Tulowitzki has appeared in 91 games this season and leads the MLB with a .340 batting average, a .432 on-base percentage and a 1.035 OPS.
Tulowitzki, who also leads the NL with a .603 slugging percentage, has 21 homers and 52 RBI this season, but he was placed on the 15-day disabled list this week with a left hip flexor strain.
Gonzalez has appeared in 60 games this season and has nine homers and 34 RBI.
