CM Punk's contract expired earlier this month signaling the end of his WWE run, but he made an appearance at Comic Con in Chicago and is currently doing work for Nerdist News right now while Batista believes he'll eventually return to WWE.

Punk spoke about working for Nerdist News at Comic Con in San Diego and joked about not knowing what was going on.
"Honestly, this isn't my bag...I don't really understand what's going on with costume play and comic novels," Punk said. "I don't understand, but I'll get into it. I'll figure it out."

Punk walked out on the WWE back in January due to frustration with the way he was being used and due to being burned out with the rigorous travel schedule. Punk left the WWE prior to a Monday Night RAW episode on the night after the Royal Rumble and hasn't been back since despite multiple shows in his hometown of Chicago taking place since then.
Punk has since married WWE Diva AJ Lee, and will likely not be back with the company anytime soon despite the rumors of Punk possibly returning to the company after he married Lee.
Punk recently said that he was "never ever" returning to the WWE following his hiatus away from the company and it is said that things between both sides are worse than they have ever been.
Despite all of this, Batista -- who is on hiatus right now to promote the upcoming Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy but is set to return soon in preparation for SummerSlam -- said he believes the "Best in the World" will be back soon.
"I know for a fact that he loves professional wrestling," Batista told Digital Spy. "I couldn't see him taking a step down and wrestling for a lesser organization. Unless he spent some time in Japan, I just don't see it. I think eventually he'll come back. I think he belongs there. I think the fans really love him and miss him. I think he loves it and misses it just as much. I'm really not sure why he left. He'll be back, I would think that he would be back. I think it would be kind of crazy if he didn't go back."
It remains to be seen if Punk will ever return to the squared circle again, but it seems despite Batista's optimism that a return to the company is a long-shot for the "Best in the World."
