Two clubs chasing the Apertura Liga MX title will do battle today in a league match between Santos Laguna and Cruz Azul. As if poor showings in the Liguilla weren't bad enough, Cruz Azul doubled down on their disappointing efforts with an opening loss to Pachuca last Saturday. Despite having a two-man advantage, La Maquina were unable to find a late equalizer. According to manager Luis Fernando Tena, the supporters are justified in voicing their displeasure.
"They are right," Tena said (via La Aficion). "They came to see us win and are well accustomed to that after last tournament, where we almost always made good games and we got good results. They also realized the weather conditions had a role, but the team had a good attitude."
