Is it possible to be so beautiful you are a distraction to everyone around you? Thats the question facing Kazakhstan volleyball player Sabina Altynbekova.
Many fans and critics believe that Altynbekova, who is either 17 or 18 years old, is too beautiful and is a distraction to the game. Altynbekova has become so much of a distraction that Kazakhstan coach Nurlan Sadikov believes that more than half the fans in attendance aren't there to watch the games.
"It is impossible to work like this," he told told Tengrin News. "The crowd behaves like there is only one player at the championship.”
Altynbekova and her teammates have even noticed the attention, but like most players Altynbekova is focused on the sport and not the fans in attendance.
"I was flattered at first but it's all getting a little bit much," she said. "I want to concentrate on playing volleyball and to be famous for that, not anything else.”
According to Altynbekova’s mother, her daughter has received offers to model, but that isn’t the route they want her to go down. Altynbekova’s mother hopes that her daughter will pursue a law school and not modeling or sports.
Recently, Taiwanese fans found Altynbekova so attractive that they were holding Kazakhstan flags and arrived an hour early to get more time around her.
