Tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET, the Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears kick off their preseasons live from Soldier Field in Chicago. The game can be live streamed here. Philadelphia fans can hear all of the action on 94 WIP while Chicago fans can do the same on WGN 720.
Philadelphia is coming off of a season where it finished in first place in the AFC East with a 10-6 record before losing to the New Orleans Saints in the wild-card round while Chicago finished with an 8-8 record and in second place in the NFC North, missing the playoffs for the third straight season.
Chip Kelly enters his second season at the helm for the Eagles and while the team is now without DeSean Jackson, who led it with 82 receptions for 1,332 yards and nine touchdowns last season, it has brought Darren Sproles into the fold to add to its explosive backfield.
Foles joins LeSean McCoy, who led Philadelphia with 314 carries for 1,607 yards and nine scores.
Mark Trestman enters his second season as head coach of the Bears and will be without Martellus Bennett, due to his suspension for conduct detrimental to the team.
"We've got a plan and a process in place," Trestman told The Chicago Tribune about the suspension. "And as I told the team today, we love him. He works hard. He loves football. He's a good father and we want to get him back as soon as we can and we'll go through this process and when the time is right he'll be back."
Nick Foles will take the reins to the Eagles offense this season, though his participation tonight will likely be minimal. Foles went 203-for-317 (64 percent) last season for 2,891 yards with 27 touchdowns and two interceptions.
Kelly is hoping that Foles pays more attention when he is under pressure.
"It's one of the things that he knows he needs to work on and we need to do a better job, and it's something that we talked about in the offseason," Kelly told Philly.com. "We need to not be in as many negative yardage situations."
Jay Cutler will control the offense for the Bears in 2014 after going 224-for-355 (63.1 percent) a year ago for 2,621 yards with 19 touchdowns and 12 picks.
One of Cutler's favorite targets last season was Alshon Jeffrey, who netted 89 receptions for 1,427 yards last season and seven touchdowns. Matt Forte led the ground game, rushing for 1,339 yards on 289 carries and reaching the end zone nine times.
The Eagles and Bears go head-to-head to start their preseason slate when they take the field tonight at Soldier Field in Chicago.
