Adrien Broner Next Fight: Marcos Maidana Rematch Would Come Before Danny Garcia Title Bout? [VIDEO]

Adrien "The Problem" Broner is set to headline a fight card in Cincinnati against little-known Emmanuel Taylor in what is widely viewed as a tune-up fight on September 6. Beyond Taylor, Broner has said he wants to win a title in the light welterweight division and become a four-division titlist at the age of 25.

Unless, of course, Marcos Maidana is willing to have a rematch against Broner.

Maidana handed Broner the first loss of his career in December 2013; Broner had vaulted past two divisions and won a title vs. Paulie Malignaggi in his first welterweight bout before Maidana knocked him down twice en route to a unanimous decision win.

Broner rebounded with a victory at 140 lbs. over Carlos Molina, and has several roads he can take should he defeat Taylor. During an interview with Showtime's Brian Kenny Broner discussed the upcoming Maidana vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. rematch, and re-stated his desire to avenge his only loss.

"It's a hell of a fight. Maidana is a tough opponent for anybody, of course I know that," Broner said. "The last one was a tough fight for my big brother, but he got past it like he always do. I feel like this fight is going to be easier for Mayweather, but, after that, I'm going to put on a show September 6 and hopefully I get my rematch with Maidana."

If Broner doesn't get the rematch he covets, there are a number of fights that might intrigue boxing fans. A fight between Broner and Danny Garcia, the WBC and WBA light welterweight champion, could be a big time card. It's more likely that Garcia takes on IBF champion Lamont Peterson in a unification match though; both fighters were dominant on the same Barclays Center card that took place August 9.

Broner's been called out by John Molina, who staged a Fight of the Year candidate with Lucas Matthysse on April 26, or he could face Matthysse down the road. Matthysse is the co-feature on the September 6 card and will be facing Roberto Ortiz.
