Kurt Angle WWE Return Nixed? Olympic Hero Calls Triple H, Reportedly Doesn't Go Well [VIDEO]

Kurt Angle has wanted to return to the WWE to close out his career as he nurses an ACL injury and awaits his TNA contract to expire next month, but his recent call to Triple H reportedly didn't go well.

Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that Angle spoke with Triple H on the phone and was pretty much blown off. Angle then called WWE CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon and he was informed by McMahon that Triple H is in charge of making the talent decisions from now on, likely closing the door on Angle's potential return.

There are now reports that Triple H is upset that Angle tried to go over his head by calling McMahon, which likely also hurts a possible return to the company for Angle.

Backstage Update On Rey Mysterio's Contract Dispute With WWE

Angle told 105.9 The X in Pittsburgh that he was weighing his options about returning to WWE while recuperating from his ACL surgery, though it appears as though the WWE may not be interested.

"I'm still in the process. My contract's up September 21st. I will say this TNA has been really loyal to me and there is an obligation there but at the same time have to do what's best for me," Angle said about returning to the WWE. "I haven't quite decided yet. It wouldn't be a surprise either way it's just I'm going to have to bear down right now and by the end of September I'll have my decision."

Angle gave the impression that the door was open for him to return to the WWE and also said that it will come down to agreeing to terms with the company.

"I think it's always an open door. It's really about what you can give. What they want from you and what you want from them. At the end of the day you have to agree on all terms. So it really comes down to how much they want to use me and how much I want to be used," he said.

Angle made his professional wrestling debut in the WWE in 1999 and went on to become a four-time WWE Champion and one-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion before jumping to TNA in 2006 and going on to become a five-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion.

The WWE has reportedly been set against bringing Angle back likely due to his past bouts with substance abuse, and it appears as though their stance on that hasn't changed.

While Angle appears to want a return to the WWE, it seems like a long-shot that the company will bring him back.
