Bangladesh is in desperate need of a turnaround, as their first ODI loss to West Indies ran a losing streak to five matches. The absence of all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has hurt the Bangladesh side badly, so they will be relying on Anamul Haque at the top of the order to set the tone. In the first matchup Haque was excellent, scoring 109 from 138 balls, with 11 fours and a six.
The West Indies, meanwhile, has been able to push forward despite the sudden exit of their coach, Ottis Gibson. "On behalf of the board and West Indies cricket as a whole we express our gratitude to Ottis for his work, particularly in coaching the team to winning the ICC World Twenty20 in 2012, and offer our best wishes to him in all his future endeavours," Michael Muirhead, the WICB chief executive officer, said in a statement. He has been replaced temporarily with Richie Richardson.
