For Bayern Munich, today's match will serve as the first step toward defending their Bundesliga title. For Ivica Olic, however, it will serve as an opportunity to show well against his former side. The 34-year-old featured with Bavarian giants from 2009-2012 and is welcoming a return to his old stomping grounds as the enemy.
"I always enjoy coming back [to Allianz Arena]," Olic said (via Bayern Munich's official website). "I had the best season of my career with Bayern. We played really well against strong opponents in the Champions League, and I'll never forget it. But I'm on the opposing team now."
"We've played a few times in Munich with me in the team," he added. "But we've always lost. I'm hopeful we might open the season with a surprise."
