New Orleans enters the game at 2-0 in the preseason after picking up a 26-24 victory over the St. Louis Rams in Week 1 and following it up with a 31-24 triumph over the Houston Texans last Friday. Indianapolis is in search of its first exhibition win after a pair of New York teams got the better of it with the Jets dropping it 13-10 and then the Giants handing it a 27-26 loss last Saturday.
Saints quarterback Drew Brees comes into 2014 after a 2013 campaign that saw him go 446-for-650 (68.6 percent) for 5,162 yards with 39 touchdowns and 12 interceptions last season.
One of Brees' favorite targets last season was tight end Jimmy Graham, who amassed 86 receptions for 1,215 yards and 16 touchdowns and will not be slam dunking any balls through the uprights this season. Pierre Thomas paced the New Orleans rushing game last season, carrying the ball 147 times for 549 yards while reaching the end zone twice.
Andrew Luck returns for his third season under center with the Colts after going 343-for-570 (60.2 percent) last season for 3,822 yards with 23 touchdowns and nine interceptions. One of Luck's most popular targets last year was T.Y. Hilton, who had 82 receptions for 1,083 yards and five touchdowns.
Luck is loaded with options aside from Hilton as the Colts already have veteran Reggie Wayne and new import Hakeem Nicks at the third-year quarterback's disposal.
Trent Richardson will look to have a bounce back season now that he's had a full year to learn the Indianapolis playbook. After being traded over from the Cleveland Browns, Richardson rushed for 458 yards on 157 carries while reaching the end zone three times.
