NBA Draft: Alex Len of Maryland Declares After Two Seasons

Maryland sophomore center Alex Len will forego his junior season and enter the 2013 NBA draft, according to ESPN.com. The 7-foot-1 center averaged 11.9 points and 7.8 rebounds in 2012-13, while leading the Atlantic Coast Conference with 78 blocked shots.

The Ukraine bron Len is the 12th-best draft prospect, according to ESPN.com's Chad Ford. Len says he's "grown a lot over the past two years" and is "looking forward to the next chapter of my life."

Terrapins head coach Mark Turgeon told ESPN that he's proud of what Len has accomplished during his time in Maryland. The coach added that his center has "earned" the opportunity to play in the NBA.

Len averaged 9.7 points and seven rebounds at Maryland in 48 games. The star center shined as a sophomore after a disappointing freshman season in which he only played 11 games.

The NBA draft will take place on June 27, 2013. Underclassmen and under-22 international players have until April 28 to declare for the NBA draft.
