Mexico National Team: Predicting Miguel Herrera's Starting XI For Mexico vs. Chile Friendly

Two of the standout teams from the 2014 World Cup will do battle on Saturday, with Mexico visiting Santa Clara, California to face Chile. The international friendly scheduled for 10 p.m. ET will be held at Levi's Stadium and can coverage be found on ESPN2. But while the date, time and location of the match is known, Mexico's starting lineup is not.

In total, 22 players were named by Miguel Herrera to represent El Tri.

Goalkeepers: Guillermo Ochoa (Málaga), Alfredo Talavera (Toluca)

Defenders: Paul Aguilar (America), Carlos Salcido (Chivas), Francisco Rodriguez (Cruz Azul), Miguel Herrera (Pachuca), Oswaldo Alanis (Santos), Luis Venegas (Atlas), Jorge Torres Nilo (Tigres), Hiram Mier (Monterrey), Rodolfo Pizarro (Pachuca)

Midfielders: Marco Fabian (Cruz Azul), Miguel Ponce (Toluca), Andres Guardado (PSV), Héctor Herrera (Porto), Jose Juan Vazquez (Leon), Antonio Ríos (Toluca), Javier Aquino (Rayo Vallecano)

Forwards: Giovani Dos Santos (Villarreal), Erick Torres (Chivas USA), Oribe Peralta (América), Javier Orozco (Santos Laguna)

With an array of talent at his disposal, Herrera should consider the following XI for his 3-5-2 formation: Ochoa; Mier, Herrera, Rodriguez; Layun, Guardado, Vazquez, Herrera, Aguilar; Santos, Torres.

The strike partnership of Oribe Peralta and Giovani Dos Santos proved to be effective during the World Cup, but Erick Torres deserves an appearance in Santa Clara. The Chivas USA striker has experienced a meteoric rise in Major League Soccer, leading his club with 14 goals. Only Bradley Wright-Phillips (20) and Dom Dwyer (17) have scored more in terms of the MLS Golden Boot race.

Herrera would benefit from the familiarity Peralta brings, but it would behoove him to benefit from Torres' scoring record instead.
