With the firing of Byron Scott, the Cleveland Cavaliers are now reportedly interested in re-hiring former coach Mike Brown, according to ESPN on Thursday. Brown was the Cavaliers head coach from 2005-2010 and had a record of 272-138.
Those close to Brown tell ESPN.com that he is not sure he's ready to return to coaching after being let go by the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this season. Brown, who has two years and more than $8 million left on his deal with the Lakers, has expressed interest in taking time off to be with his family.
Despite being fired by owner Dan Gilbert after back-to-back 60-win seasons, sources told ESPN.com that there were no grudges that would prevent the Brown-Cavs reunion. However, Cavs general manager Chris Grant declined to discuss a direct question about Brown's candidacy during a news conference on Thursday.
Grant served as an assistant general manager alongside Brown from 2005-10 and is said to still have a good relationship with the former coach.
