Derek Jeter Injury: Yankee Captain Likely Out Until After All-Star Break

Yankees captain Derek Jeter had a CT scan on his injured ankle on Thursday that revealed a small crack, further delaying the All-Star shortstop's return to the Yankees' lineup until at least midseason, according to ESPNNewYork.com.

"We're looking at, in terms of speculation when Derek Jeter will be back with us, sometime after the All-Star break," Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said.

Jeter had left the team's minor league complex in Florida to have an unscheduled medical exam with the Charlotte doctor who performed the surgery on the ankle at the end of last season. The shortstop broke his ankle last October in Game 1 of the AL Championship Series against Detroit.

Jeter has a career average of .313 with 255 home runs, 1254 RBIs, 3304 hits and a .382 OBP. Jeter is the proud owner of five MLB championships, 13 All-Star appearances, five Gold Glove awards, five Silver Slugger awards and was the 1996 AL Rookie of the Year.
