Los Angeles enters play with a three-game lead atop the National League West with the San Francisco Giants nipping at their heels while Colorado is in dead last in the division.

While Los Angeles is in the midst of trying to lockup its second straight NL West crown, the focus was on the aftermath of an in-game argument between outfielders Yasiel Puig and Matt Kemp in the dugout on Monday night.

Manager Don Mattingly didn't mind seeing some fire in his players with the team's magic number down to nine.

"I like guys having a personality. I don't mind that at all," Mattingly told MLB.com before Tuesday's game. "But I think we're finding out that this club has been getting down to business. They've stepped up when they needed to. ... I've felt like they've been ready to play every day. These guys know where they're at, and they've come ready to play every day."

While Puig was at the center of an argument, he's had a solid year thus far by leading the Dodgers with a .295 batting average and adding 14 homers and 62 RBI.

Los Angeles first baseman Adrian Gonzalez leads the team with 23 homers and 106 RBI, which leads the NL. Gonzalez also ranks tied for fourth in the NL with 38 doubles this season.

Speedster Dee Gordon has been a spark plug for L.A. as he leads the MLB with 62 stolen bases and 12 triples thus far this season and ranks tied for fourth in the league with 167 hits.

Having lost shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and outfielder Carlos Gonzalez for the season, Colorado has been paced by first baseman Justin Morneau and outfielder Corey Dickerson. Morneau ranks second in the NL with a .316 batting average while Dickerson leads the Rockies with 23 homers and is tied with Morneau for the team lead with 73 RBI.

Two NL West rivals play the rubber match of a three-game series when the Dodgers and Rockies take the field this afternoon at Coors Field in Colorado.
