Houston Rockets Trade: Sacramento Kings Deal Jason Terry To H-Town, Rockets Add Point Guard Depth

The Houston Rockets have finally found a veteran replacement for Jeremy Lin, whom they traded earlier this offseason for salary cap space. While Houston has been linked this summer to big names like Rajon Rondo, the veteran they've acquired is a lesser light.

In typical Daryl Morey style, the Rockets acquired combo guard Jason Terry and two second round draft picks from the Sacramento Kings in exchange for swingman Alonzo Gee, Scotty Hopson, and a trade exception. The Rockets have been known to use second round draft choices to sweeten deals, or acquire promising role players that are packaged in deals for big names.

Terry was once a feared scorer off the bench for the Dallas Mavericks, and a crucial contributor to their 2011 championship team; he also took home the 2008-09 Sixth Man of the Year award. At 37 years old though it's unclear how much Terry has in the tank. He struggled mightily with the Brooklyn Nets last year, playing in just 35 games with averages of 4.5 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists. He also shot 36 percent from the 3-point line, the first time in his 15-year career he posted a mark below 41 percent.

Gee played just 15 minutes a night last season for the Cleveland Cavaliers, but had the best season of his career during the 2012-13 campaign. He averaged 31 minutes a game, averaging 10.3 points and 3.9 rebounds. Minutes may be difficult to come by for Gee with the Kings since he is behind Rudy Gay on the depth chart, and struggles from long range.

Gee is a career 33 percent shooter from beyond the arc, and a 42 percent shooter overall.
