Today at 1:00 p.m. ET the Philadelphia Eagles (2-0) will take their home field against the Washington Redskins (1-1), who are being led by Kirk Cousins for the foreseeable future. This matchup's big storyline is the return of wide receiver DeSean Jackson to Philadelphia. This offseason he was cut amid allegations of gang ties, despite having the best season of his career in his first campaign under head coach Chip Kelly. Jackson was injured last week, but looks like he's gunning to play through the pain against his former squad.
"I felt I put it out on the line for them when I played there and I've done what I've done to help that organization win games, so as far as if they congratulate me, if they boo me -- whatever the case may be -- I'm ready for whatever it is," Jackson said. "If it's all on me, I'm playing. I don't plan on missing this game."
Jackson was supposed to be the home run threat that complemented fellow receiver Pierre Garcon's yards after the catch skills, and figured to benefit from long balls tossed by Robert Griffin III. With RGIII out though, it remains to be seen how he will mesh with Cousins.
The Eagles, meanwhile, aren't being allowed by Kelly to bask in their fast start.
"No one should be patting themselves on the back anywhere," Kelly said. "We're fortunate to be 2-0. We've done a great job of coming back in both games, but there is a lot of work in every aspect of the game that we need to work on. So that's the great thing about this group, they understand that."
