Recap: Ninety minutes of uninspiring football saw Bordeaux capture a 2-1 victory over Evian Thonon Gaillard on Friday.
After standing toe-to-toe with the Ligue 1 leaders for a majority of the opening 15 minutes, the visitors reverted back to their last-place form. Poor marking allowed Bordeaux's Diego Rolan to polish off a cross from Nicolas Maurice-Belay in the 19th minute. A superb individual effort from Wahbi Khazri sealed the victory in the second half.
With the result, Bordeaux return to the top of the Ligue 1 table.
Key Moment: Evian Thonon Gaillard's opportunities to equalize were few and far between before the half. None proved to be more wasteful than Nicolas Benezet's miss in the 33rd minute. From just seven yards out, the 23-year-old was unable to polish off an inch-perfect cross from Fabien Camus.
Man of the Match: In addition to his world-class goal, Khazri helped create two additional chances before a home crowd.
Lesson Learned: Contrary to popular belief, Paris Saint-Germain haven't been crowned the champions of Ligue 1 in 2014-15. Over 30 fixtures remain in the campaign, and as many as four clubs have shown early signs of contending for L'Hexagoal. Bordeaux are one of them. In six competitive matches, Les Girondins have captured four victories and a league-best 12 goals. The challenge remains sustaining this form and enduring a lengthy league race, but Bordeaux have shown every sign that they're up to the task.
