Fire Charlie Weis Chants Now Extend To Kansas Football Twitter Account? [VIDEO]

When your own program supports your firing, who needs enemies?

CollegeSpun.com reported Saturday that the University of Kansas football team's official Twitter account favorite a tweet calling for coach Charlie Weis' ouster.

The incident started when the account tweeted prior to the start of the Jayhawks' game against Central Michigan, "One Team. One Chant. Official tweets from #KUFBALL.

Then the Twitter account of RockChalkTalk, which is part of SB Nation, commented on the Kansas football tweet, writing "#jointhechant so long as the chant is Fire Weis".

Which the official Kansas football account promptly favorited.

It's another example of all the clutter in the Twitter sphere and how college athletic social media accounts look for any mention of their respective schools programs. And sometimes in the bustle of all that is going on behind the scenes of a major college athletic event, the Twitter account administrators don't always look at other tweets with a fine tooth comb.

While the person running the Jayhawks football twitter account may get a reprimand, the Jayhawks did win the game 24-10 over Central Michigan.

That makes Kansas 2-1 on the season and 6-21 overall in Weis' third season at the helm of the Jayhawks. He makes $2.5 million annually with Kansas and is in the middle of a five-year deal.

In his eighth season as a college head coach, Weis has compiled a 40-48 record. He was 35-27 in five years at Notre Dame, but his first two seasons, Weis went 19-6.

Since then, the former New England Patriots offensive coordinator has gone 21-42.

His team's win over Central Michigan on Saturday marked just the third win over an FBS school for Kansas in the Weis era.

Perhaps the Kansas football Twitter account administrator was just being honest.
