Drew Brees had his best game of 2014 last Sunday in a 20-9 victory over the Minnesota Vikings, throwing for 293 yards and two touchdowns while having his first turnover-free game. Head coach Sean Payton was very positive toward the offense coming out of the win.
I thought our tempo was good, balance was good, and I thought we were running it pretty well," Payton said.
Brees will go after a secondary that is dealing with some transition. Third-year cornerback Morris Claiborne has been replaced by Orlando Scandrick, and during the week Claiborne took the news of his benching poorly. He stormed out of the Cowboys' facility and skipped a practice.
"We informed Mo yesterday that his role was gonna change, and he didn't take that news very well by his own admission," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. "And he left the building and didn't participate in the meetings and our short walkthrough that we have on Tuesdays.
"He did come back to the building last night. He and I visited, and he was here early this morning and has been going through everything."
Claiborne also issued an apology for his actions.
My apology went to nobody but those guys, but those guys that are in the locker room with me and it doesn't go outside the locker room," Claiborne said. "Because I let those guys down by leaving yesterday, I could have been here getting some work but they understand what went on as well and it is what it is."
