Patriots QB Tom Brady Looks 'Scared To Death' On The Field, Ex-Teammate Rodney Harrison Says

Based on the dismal performance New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady delivered Monday night during an embarrassing 41-14 loss to the Chiefs in Kansas City, Mo., he is clearly troubled by something. And former teammate Rodney Harrison believes he knows the root of Brady's problems.

"I think it's one of those situations where Brady, he's really, really frustrated," Harrison said. "He doesn't have any confidence in his offensive line. And unfortunately, they're meeting one of the most complete teams in the National Football League."

Harrison might be on to something with this assessment. Brady appeared very uncomfortable every time he was pressured by the Chiefs' defense. And he was under pressure often.

The Patriots offensive line, assigned the task of protecting its star quarterback, failed miserably Monday night. With a Chiefs' defender constantly in his face, Brady never got into a passing rhythm. He completed just 14 of 23 pass attempts for 159 yards, threw one touchdown, two INTs, and was sacked twice.

Harrison told Boston station WEEI 93.7 FM that Brady 'looked scared to death' in the pocket.

Brady's ineffectiveness led coach Bill Belichick to pull him from the game early in the fourth quarter.

"Tom Brady can still play," said Harrison, according to ESPN.com. "But when you surround him -- there's a reason why Brandon LaFell was let go [by Carolina]. He's not a great player. He's a young guy, and he has to make his way in this league.

"And Danny Amendola, you look at him, no one ever said he was a great player. He's always been hurt. The history is behind it. Rob Gronkowski obviously coming off that ACL injury, he's been hurt. So it's not like when you look at the Patriots on paper they just have all these weapons and teams are afraid of them."

Brady and the Patriots [2-2] will try to get untracked Sunday when they play host to the Cincinnati Bengals.
