University of Florida freshman quarterback Treon Harris can breathe a bit easier today; he will not face sexual battery charges for now. A representative for Harris announced Friday that the accuser has opted to withdraw her complaint.
"This means she is not pursuing criminal charges against him at this time but maintains the right to do so in the future," school spokeswoman Janine Sikes said in a statement, according to ESPN.com.
But Harris' lawyers stated on Thursday that several eyewitnesses paint the accuser as the aggressor in the sexual encounter and that Harris and the woman were riding in a car together and later holding hands.

The accuser is a student at the school, who alleges the assault occurred at an on-campus residence hall. ESPN.com reports, according to multiple on-campus sources, that the woman is a student-athlete.
As a result of her decision not to pursue legal action at this time, Harris is allowed to return to the Florida campus and resume university activities. University officials were expected to provide further details of Harris' on-campus and football status at a later time.
After the allegation was revealed, University officials suspended Harris from all football-related activities.
Before his suspension, Harris was primed to become Florida's starting QB.
