Tonight at 8:30 p.m. ET the San Francisco 49ers (3-2) will take on the St. Louis Rams (1-3) in an NFC West clash on ESPN's Monday Night Football that can be live streamed free by clicking this link. 49ers fans can listen to the game on KNBR 1050, while Rams fans can do the same on 101 ESPN.
The 49ers have been dealing with controversy at the top as rumors have swirled head coach Jim Harbaugh is not long for the job. Harbaugh's been linked to the Michigan Wolverines, while reports have surfaced he's no longer backed by the team.
49ers CEO Jed York has backed Harbaugh though, and the 49ers are in position to put themselves in a first-place tie with the Seahawks who dropped a home game on Sunday. "Jim is my coach," York wrote on Twitter. "We are trying to win a SB (Super Bowl), not a personality or popularity contest. Any more questions?"
Quarterback Colin Kaepernick, whom Harbaugh placed his faith in during his first season as Niners' coach, strongly backed his coach. "I love Coach Harbaugh. I'd go to war with him any day of the week," Kaepernick said.
"He's a competitor, he wants to win and he's going to do anything to put this team in a position to win."
He is also known as a miracle worker with quarterbacks, with Kaepernick's success as a prime example. He entered the NFL as a raw passer known more for his rushing ability, and has since developed into a player that relies more on his arm. So far in 2014 Kaepernick has thrown for 1,113 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Rams have their own project at quarterback in Austin Davis. He came in as a backup for the injured Shaun Hill, who himself was replacing Sam Bradford. Davis has been impressive in his run, throwing for 1,129 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions. Davis has been named the starter for the rest of the season, despite Hill's return to health.
