Danny Garcia Next Fight: Lamont Peterson Unification Bout Next For 'Swift'? Viktor Postol Paid To 'Step Aside' [VIDEO]

After multiple postponements of a purse bid for a bout between WBC and WBA junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia and mandatory challenger Viktor Postol, the challenger has been paid to "step aside" while Garcia seeks a higher profile fight.

Postol's manager Vadim Kornilov announced Postol will be taking a back seat. "There is a step aside agreement that we have almost finalized. Postol and Garcia will both get options to take other fights over the next four months and then Postol will again be in the mandatory position to fight the WBC champion," Kornilov told BoxingScene.com.

A unification bout between Garcia and Lamont Peterson, the IBF junior welterweight champion, appears to be the logical voluntary defense for Garcia to make. Garcia's been criticized for his opponent choices in his last two fights, victories over Mauricio Herrera and Rod Salka in Puerto Rico and Brooklyn, respectively.

Peterson fought on the undercard of Garcia vs. Postol, defending his belt with a convincing victory over Edgar Santana. Garcia was not eager to face Postol, posting on Twitter that he was unaware of who Postol was.

"No disrespect but I didn't even know who postol was till about a week ago. He doesn't even have any notable wins. #NoDisrespect," Garcia tweeted.

Peterson has rebounded from a vicious knockout loss to Lucas Matthysse with dominant wins over Dierry Jean and Santana.

Other options for Garcia include a rematch with Matthysse, whom Garcia beat in September 2013, and Adrien Broner, an admitted friend of Garcia's.
