Amir Khan Next Fight: Robert Guerrero Bout Could Happen At Barclays Center? [VIDEO]

It is well-known that Amir Khan wants to face Floyd Mayweather Jr. before the pound-for-pound king hangs up his gloves, but first it looks like Khan will tangle with "The Ghost" Robert Guerrero in the near future.

In September Golden Boy president Oscar De La Hoya discussed pitting Khan vs. Guerrero at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on December 6.

"A great venue for Khan and Guerrero, and maybe where that fight belongs, would be the Barclays Center in New York," De La Hoya said. "The fans are just amazing at The Barclays Center, and I believe that we can close out the year with a big fight like that at The Barclays Center in December. If not December, then, early next year."

When asked about that pairing on Twitter, Showtime executive Stephen Espinoza didn't confirm that Khan will face Guerrero, and said Khan won't be in action on December 6, but never ruled out the two fighting one another.

"GB doing a different show instead of Khan at Barclays on 12/6," Espinoza tweeted.

It's well-known Khan craves a shot at boxing's pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr., but Mayweather has derided Khan's credentials as a potential opponent. Khan has won three straight fights since a controversial loss to Lamont Peterson was followed up by a knockout loss to Danny Garcia, but Mayweather has continued to hold the Garcia loss against him, saying Khan has "Danny Garcia problems."

Khan, however, feels he has the remedy to solve Mayweather's near-impenetrable defense. "Floyd, as we all know, isn't the biggest puncher," Khan said.

"His footwork has slowed down, he only throws single punches and gets hit a lot more. We all know Maidana isn't the quickest, and he still got through with shots. Now it makes sense why the fight isn't happening between me and Mayweather. Is he afraid of the speed, explosiveness and power? Floyd - let's get it on!"
