Lucas Matthysse Next Fight: Adrien Broner Bout Unlikely, 'The Machine' Not Expected Back In Ring Until 2015 [VIDEO]

Lucas Matthysse dropped previously undefeated Roberto Ortiz in the second round of their undercard matchup in September with a body shot that showed off the power that has earned him the nickname "The Machine." After Adrien Broner won his matchup against Emmanuel Taylor on the same night, he called out Matthysse as his next opponent.

"Listen, like I said before, I didn't 'kind of' call out nobody. I said, my next fight should be Matthysse. And he can get it!" Broner had told Showtime's Jim Gray. Since then, and despite an Instagram post in which Broner named Matthysse, Marcos Maidana, Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao, Broner's unlikely to take on Matthysse anytime soon.

Broner's trainer Mike Stafford said recently they'd be seeking another opponent on Taylor's level for Broner's next fight, and Matthysse's trainer Cuty Barrera told ThaBoxingVoice.com last week he isn't currently training.

"It's hard to say Lucas [Matthysse] isn't training at the moment he's not around at the moment he's schedule to return back Monday or Tuesday of next week from vacation," Barrera said.

"What's happening is simple until I see Lucas, and get a good look at him, it will be hard to tell you when he can return to fight. We also like to be notified at least two and a half months in advance so we can try to be psychically and mentally at our best. As far as dates are concerned that's something that Arano will tell us with who and when it would be with."

Matthysse has said he would step in the ring with Broner, but prefers a rematch with WBC and WBA junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia. The champion, who defeated Mathysse in a close fight in September 2013, has expressed no desire to give Matthysse another shot.
