CM Punk Return: John Cena Addresses Punk's Departure When Asked About WWE 2K15 Rivalries [VIDEO]

John Cena recently talked about the WWE 2K15 video game and addressed the feud he had with former WWE Superstar CM Punk being featured in the game's rivalry mode.

WWE Asks Fans Who Steve Austin Should Face If He Returns

Cena spoke with Fighting Spirit and was asked about whether or not he was happy that fans can relive his memorable feud with the "Best in the World" despite Punk no longer being with the company.

"Whether he's here or not, he's certainly left a mark in WWE," Cena told the publication. "He's got to be in the game, and it's cool that that moment is not forgotten."

Kurt Angle Reportedly Returning To TNA Instead Of WWE

Cena also addressed which Superstar in WWE 2K15 he'd like to face.

"There are a lot of first time scenarios, such as with Sting," he said. "The fact that you can use current me or the old [Doctor of Thuganomics] is always good, and I like rivalry mode [vs. CM Punk] because 2K listened to the WWE Universe as to which they wanted most. You can relive those rivalries and stories that went along with them."

Punk walked out on the WWE back in January due to his frustration over the way his character was being used as well as due to being burned out by the rigorous travel schedule the WWE has.

There were rumors that Punk would eventually return, however his contract with the company expired in July and things were said to be "worse than ever" between the two sides, according to an inside source at the time of his departure.

Things likely only got even worse after Punk's lawyers recently sent the WWE a 22-page letter over royalties stemming from the company using his likeness in the new video game.

Punk has made many public appearances since his departure, but has not seemed to want to return to the ring anytime soon, even going as far as to tell a reporter at the AP Music Awards that he was "never ever" returning to the squared circle.

Punk was reportedly offered a lucrative deal by TNA -- a rumor which the company disputed, but still carries weight -- and also appeared backstage at an Ohio Valley Wrestling event, but it doesn't appear as though a return to the ring for any company is imminent.

While Cena and Punk are unlikely to ever go toe-to-toe in the ring again, it is possible to relive the rivalry one last time in WWE 2K15.
