The status of star Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green is still unknown for this Week 8 battle, but according to head coach Marvin Lewis there are multiple reasons they've stumbled after a 3-0 start that go beyond one missing player on offense.

"We've got a lot of details to be better at, and to challenge ourselves to be better at, and we have to do it very quickly," Lewis said. One of those details is their run defense, which ranks dead last in the NFL according to FootballOutsiders.com. That will be put to the test against Justin Forsett of the Ravens, who has rushed for 206 yards combined in the past two weeks.

Adding Green back into the mix would surely help though, and Lewis sounded hopeful his star would play on Sunday. "A.J.'s made a lot of progress, and as we go through the week we'll see as always how things go," Lewis said Monday. "I think he's made significant progress, and feels good about everything that he's being told, and what the prognosis is."

Cincinnati could be forced to take to the air against a Ravens defense that has bottled up rushers all year long. "McPhee's playing his tail off, and Suggs and Dumervil and Ngata, they've got the guys rolling up front," Lewis said. "It's a big football game for us."
