There is some concern following the news that WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan needs a second surgery that he will not be able to return and his in-ring career could be over.

Wrestlingheadlines.com reports a WWE source said there is no timetable for his return and there is no guarantee that he will be able to come back, which means the WWE Universe may have seen the last of him in the squared circle.

The Big Show opened up SmackDown by announcing that Bryan will need surgery on his elbow. The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion underwent neck surgery in mid-May, but he lost feeling in his arm and will now undergo an elbow operation to repair it.

Five Possible Partners For John Cena At Survivor Series

Big Show started a "YES" chant for a video that the WWE wanted to send to Bryan to encourage his recovery, but it apparently wasn't taped to air on the official show as it was just filmed to cheer Bryan up.

It is possible that the WWE still airs the video at some point, but it was filmed before the tapings Tuesday in Houston and will is unlikely to air Friday night on the official SmackDown episode.

The WWE has been quiet about Bryan's injury and recovery, but backstage sources say that wrestlers have been talking about the concerns of Bryan needing serious elbow surgery.

There were reports a few months ago that Bryan might need Tommy John surgery, but it is unknown if that is the exact procedure he is going for now.

Bryan tried to fix the problem through rehab, all the while saying he'd rather get the surgery over and done with if it's needed so he could return, but the rehab didn't help him and now another surgery is necessary.

Bryan had a career-defining night at WrestleMania XXX on April 6 in New Orleans, defeating Triple H and going on to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in a Triple Threat Match against Randy Orton and Batista to close out the show.

Bryan then engaged in a feud with Kane in the aftermath of the Show of Shows until the neck injury sidelined him and canceled a program he was rumored to have with Brock Lesnar leading into SummerSlam and Night of Champions.

John Cena took Bryan's place, winning the vacant gold at Money in the Bank and dropping it to Lesnar at SummerSlam before picking up a DQ victory the following month. Lesnar is now not expected to wrestle again until January, but he could come back sooner.

There was a hope that Bryan would be back by the Royal Rumble on Jan. 25, 2015, but it appears as though that timetable might be a little too tight depending on when the surgery occurs and how his recovery goes.

Now, it is unknown at all if Bryan will ever be able to make it back to the ring.
