Russell Westbrook attempted to lift Oklahoma City on Wednesday night against the Portland Trailblazers with several key offensive players missing due to injury, scoring 38 points and adding six assists in a 106-89 loss. They carried a lead into the fourth quarter when they lost control of the game, and Westbrook said he wasn't satisfied with almost despite their injury woes.

"We put ourselves in position to win the game but we don't take moral victories around here and never will," Russell Westbrook said. "We just gotta find a way to close the game out better."

The Clippers enter the year with high expectations after a breakout season from center DeAndre Jordan, who along with Blake Griffin may be the NBA's top frontcourt. Jordan averaged career highs in points (10.4) and rebounds (13.6) to go with 2.5 blocks. Clippers coach Doc Rivers wants the rest of the team to join him in cleaning the glass.

"We need people to help him, you know what I mean? We've got to join in," Rivers said. "D.J. is fantastic in what he's doing on the glass, offensive and defensive glass. He's been fantastic. We've all got to pitch in and help him. It's not just the bigs, the guards, too."
