Today at 4:25 p.m. ET, the Detroit Lions (7-2) head to Arizona for a Week 11 battle with the Cardinals (8-1) live from University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona. The game can be live streamed here. Detroit is looking for its fifth straight win and comes in off of a 20-16 victory last week over the Miami Dolphins while Arizona looks to win its sixth consecutive match after a 31-14 triumph over the St. Louis Rams in Week 10.
Both of these teams lead their respective divisions as the Lions are in front in the NFC North and the Cardinals are in control of the NFC West.
The Cardinals took a big hit last week as quarterback Carson Palmer tore his ACL just three days removed from inking a three-year, $50 million extension with $20.5 million guaranteed. Drew Stanton took over and led the team on a touchdown drive that put Arizona ahead for good and he'll get the ball to start this afternoon.
"It's an opportunity I've been looking forward to for a long time," Stanton said, according to ESPN. "It's been eight years that I've been working toward this, so I don't take it lightly. It comes under unfortunate circumstances, without a doubt, but it's also part of my job description."
Stanton, 30, is 150-for-280 (53.6 percent) in his career through 17 games (seven starts) for 1,772 yards with eight touchdowns and nine interceptions.
Stanton has plenty of weapons to throw to including Michael Floyd and Larry Fitzgerald, who has 44 receptions for 625 yards with two touchdowns.
On the ground, Andre Ellington has struggled a bit to run the ball but still has 582 rushing yards on 162 carries while finding the end zone three times. Ellington is also another passing option for Stanton.
The Lions aren't looking too far ahead as the team led the NFC North through nine games last year before dropping six of its final seven games to miss the playoffs.
"It's a journey, and we're still on that journey," coach Jim Caldwell told ESPN. "We've got the team with the best record in the National Football League coming up. You better get focused in on them quickly."
Quarterback Matthew Stafford ranks 23rd in the league in completion percentage (61.4 percent), going 208-for-339 for 2,496 yards with 13 scores and eight picks.
Wide receiver Calvin Johnson (ankle) returned last week after missing three games while Golden Tate is also a big weapon, hauling in 66 receptions this season for 909 yards and three touchdowns.
On the ground, Joique Bell paces Detroit with 357 rushing yards on 108 carries while reaching the end zone three times.
The Lions look to notch their fifth straight win while the Cardinals hope to make it win No. 6 in a row when these teams go head-to-head live from University of Phoenix Stadium this afternoon in Arizona.
