New Orleans Saints Rumors: Top 3 Replacements For Brandin Cooks; Thumb Injury Has Fantasy Owners Scrambling

The loss of wide receiver Brandin Cooks to a broken thumb is a major blow to the New Orleans Saints -- and to fantasy football owners everywhere. Cooks had been a breakout midseason performer in fantasy, recovering from a slow start to his rookie season to post two 90-yard, one-touchdown performances in the past four weeks. Now, he'll be on the shelf for up to a month.

In lieu of this unfortunate situation, here are three under-the-radar receivers to potentially pick-up for Week 12.

Jordan Matthews

It's hard to know which Philadelphia Eagle has benefitted more from the Nick Foles injury -- Mark Sanchez or Matthews. The two developed an excellent chemistry by sharing second unit reps together, and it's translated into big gains in the past two weekends. Matthews has posted back-to-back 100-yard outings with three total TD receptions. As long as the Sanchize is under center, Matthews is a great fantasy bet.

John Brown

Similarly, this Arizona Cardinals receiver worked second team reps with back-up quarterback Drew Stanton. With Stanton now the full time starter following Carson Palmer's ACL injury, Brown posted a five-reception, 69-yard day vs the Detroit Lions, one of his highest stat lines of the season.

Don't be scared off by the fact that the Cardinals are visiting the vaunted Seattle Seahawks pass defense, either; Richard Sherman and the rest of his Legion of Boom will have their hands full blanketing star wideouts Michael Floyd & Larry Fitzgerald, leaving Brown plenty of opportunities to assert himself as a fall-back option.

Jarvis Landry

This Dolphins rookie has fast become Ryan Tannehill's second favorite target behind veteran Mike Wallace. He found the end zone during last Thursday's match-up vs. the Buffalo Bills. Miami takes on the explosive Denver Broncos this weekend, and if the Fins are playing from behind for most of the game, expect Tannehill and co. to air it out -- which equals good news for Landry owners.
