Colin Kaepernick, Jim Harbaugh Update: Washington Redskins Praise Niners QB, Compare Him To Russell Wilson [VIDEO]

Jim Harbaugh wasn't willing to call quarterback Colin Kaepernick elite. Kaepernick said he doesn't care what Harbaugh says to the media about him.

But the Washington Redskins are more than happy to dish out the compliments to the San Francisco 49ers quarterback.

Jim Harbaugh refuses to answer whether he thinks Colin Kaepernick is an elite quarterback

The Redskins face Kaepernick and the 49ers on Sunday. While Harbaugh and Kaepernick both said they're too focused on the Redskins to go into a deep analysis of the current state of Kaepernick's game, the Redskins says they face a daunting task of trying to shut down the elusive 49ers QB.

"He's hard to contain," Washington defensive coordinator Jim Haslett said of Kaepernick to the Washington Post. "First of all, he's an excellent athlete. He's got a big arm on him, he's doing a nice job of running their offense, he's making more and more checks than he did last year, so he's growing with the offense. I think he's doing a nice job. The last couple weeks they've gotten back to who they are with the run game and the play-action, and they use him in the run game, obviously."

Colin Kaepernick: It "doesn't matter" what Jim Harbaugh says to the media about him

The Redskins have reason to praise Kaepernick. The last time they faced a mobile quarterback with abilities similar to Kaepernick, Russell Wilson burned them.

The Seattle Seahawks quarterback completed 18 of 24 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns and ran the ball 11 times for 122 yards and another touchdown in a 27-17 win over the Redskins on Oct. 6.

It's unclear whether Kaepernick is keen about comparisons to Wilson, but at least someone's saying nice things about him.

"He's a mobile guy - kind of like a (Wilson)or even (Robert Griffin III) - extends plays. ... It can be really hard on a defense," cornerback David Amerson said to the Post. "You really have to keep your eyes on your receivers because when he gets to running around, receivers can turn long routes into short routes, and short routes to deep routes. He kind of extends plays, so you have to worry about that."
