Before citizens of the United States watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, have their eyes glued to football all day long and eat more food than they probably should, it's time to reflect on Thanksgiving's place in WWE history.

Throughout the years, there have been very memorable Thanksgiving-themed moments in the WWE, starting with the first four Survivor Series events that took place on Thanksgiving night from 1987-90.

While Thanksgiving is time for family and togetherness, the WWE has seen a lot of crazy things unfold during the holiday, including food fights, surprises, barbaric matches and more. Here is a timeline of some of the most memorable Thanksgiving-themed moments in WWE history.

1987: Andre the Giant Survives, a New Concept is Born: The initial Survivor Series took place on Thanksgiving night in 1987 and featured the long awaited rematch between Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan. This time, they didn't go one-on-one as the WWE unleashed a new elimination tag team format that has held up to this day, with the most recent bout being between Team Authority and Team Cena on Sunday at the Survivor Series. Andre teamed up with King Kong Bundy, One Man Gang, Rick Rude and Butch Reed while Hogan paired up with Bam Bam Bigelow, Paul Orndorff, Don Muraco and Ken Patera. The world was shocked as Hogan was eliminated via countout, and Andre went on to become the first ever sole-survivor, last eliminating Bam Bam Bigelow to stand tall on Thanksgiving night.

1988: The Double Switch: An infamous moment happened during the big 20-man tag team elimination match at the 1988 Survivor Series. Ax and Smash of Demolition came in as heels under the tutelage of Mr. Fuji while the Powers of Pain (Barbarian and the Warlord) entered as heels. The match boiled down to the Powers of Pain on one side and Demolition and Los Conquistadors on the other. Mr. Fuji caused Smash to fall out of the ring and get counted out to eliminate Demolition, and when Ax questioned him about it, Fuji hit him with his cane. Demolition then attacked Fuji for his betrayal while the Powers of Pain eventually helped him up and defeated Los Conquistadors to win the match. It turned out to be an alliance formed with the Powers of Pain and Fuji, turning them heel, while Demolition instantly started to feud with them and attacked them after the match, turning them babyface.

1989: Thankful Superstars: Prior to the Survivor Series on Thanksgiving night in 1989, Superstars ranging from Hulk Hogan to the Ultimate Warrior to the Bushwhackers and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan all said what they were thankful for in a ridiculous over-the-top montage. Some highlights saw Ted Dibiase of course saying he’s thankful for being rich while Jake Roberts felt blessed to have his friend Damien and the DDT. The almost four-minute video is a must-see for old WWE fans.

1990: Gobbledy Gooker: An infamous situation unfolded at the November Classic in 1991 when the egg containing the mystery being that the WWE teased for weeks hatched and out popped the Gobbledy Gooker. For those that don't know, this was a grown man dressed as a Turkey who did ridiculous dances with Mean Gene Okerlund. The whole ordeal dragged on, and it didn't take long for the fans to turn on the turkey, even on Thanksgiving night.

2000: FOOD FIGHT: In 2000, WWE Superstars got together for a special Thanksgiving edition of SmackDown and ended up wearing their food rather than eating it. After Tiger Ali Singh interrupted the feast, all hell broke loose as a brawl and subsequent food fight took place.

2001: Trish Stratus vs. Stacy Keibler Gravy Bowl Match: Thanksgiving was never hotter than when Trish Stratus and Stacy Keibler got creative with gravy, facing each other in a Gravy Bowl Match on SmackDown.  The bout was won by Stratus and men everywhere were thankful.

2002: Pilgrim Fashion Show: Things got hot and heavy on a 2002 edition of SmackDown as Dawn Marie and Torrie Wilson engaged in a Pilgrim fashion show. As most of these things go in the WWE, the Thanksgiving fun erupted into a subsequent food fight between the lovely ladies.

2009 Mayflower Melee: The WWE had a Thanksgiving-themed Mayflower Melee match on an episode of Monday Night RAW in November of 2009 with its Divas dressed in Thanksgiving garb. In the end, Maryse made her surprise return after revealing she was under Gobbledy Gooker costume.

Throughout the years, Thanksgiving has been a wild time for Superstars and Divas in the WWE
