Washington Redskins Rumors: RG3 Reacts To Being Benched, Calls It 'Coach's Decision' [VIDEO]

In the aftermath of Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden telling Robert Griffin III that he will not play Sunday, the third-year signal caller didn't have much to say.

"Coach's decision," Griffin said when asked about the change, according to ESPN. "I'm here to help this team win."

With the Redskins (3-8) sitting in last place in the NFC East and having lost three games in a row, Gruden announced Tuesday that Colt McCoy will start Sunday when the team plays the Colts (7-4) in Indianapolis.

Griffin, who spent the last three games of the 2013 campaign on the bench due to then-coach Mike Shanahan wanting to keep him healthy, is again facing ending the season on the sidelines.

"Like I said, coach's decision," Griffin repeated when pressed on the matter.

With Washington struggling and the team scoring a combined 20 points in the last two weeks, Gruden decided to make the change in hopes to spark his team.

Griffin hasn't been making good decisions with the football lately either, but he still feels as though he can help the team.

"Hey, I'm just focused on helping us win. That's all I can do," Griffin said. "Just be ready to play and be here to help this team in any way I can."

Griffin, 24, was selected with the second overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, but he hasn't been the caliber play-maker he was in his rookie season before his knee injury.

Griffin is 83-for-119 (69.7 percent) this season while throwing for 869 yards with just two touchdown passes compared to three interceptions. Griffin has also rushed for 100 yards on 22 carries and has yet to reach the end zone.

Gruden is hopeful that Griffin will learn from this experience and overcome adversity.

"We'll see how he reacts to this and how he gets himself ready," Gruden said. "People handle adversity in different ways. Some people can't handle it, some people can. I think Robert is the type of guy that can. ... The expectations were a little unfair, but I'm not going to give up on him. He's not going to give up on himself, but as far as the future is concerned, we don't know."
