Ex-Detroit Lions Wideout Titus Young Reference O.J. Simpson's Slain Wife to His Ex-Girfriend, Resulting in a Restraining Order

Troubled ex-NFL wide receiver Titus Young referenced O.J. Simpson in threats involving his ex-girlfriend, which resulted in her seeking a restraining order against him.

The Riverside (Calif.) Press-Enterprise reported that Young threatened and harassed his ex-girlfriend at her Moreno Valley home.

"He would say things like, 'I understand why O.J. killed his wife.' He says, 'We're always gonna be a family and I'm always going to be his,'" the restraining order request states. "He got mad and yelled at my neighbors and tried to fight multiple people that he doesn't even know."

A Riverside County judge granted the restraining order against Young on May 8. Young must stay at least 100 yards away at all times from his ex-girlfriend, who is the mother of his 8-month-old son, Titus Jr. A hearing is set for May 29.

Young was arraigned via video conference on eight charges as of Tuesday. Those charges include burglary and assaulting an officer. He entered not-guilty pleas to the charges. A pretrial hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. Pacific Time May 24 at the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Young faces more than 7 ½ years in California prison, if convicted of all charges, the Free Press reported, and he has two other cases pending.

USA Today reported that Young's family was still trying to determine whether it would bail out Young, according to Los Angeles attorney Altus W. Hudson II, who represents him.

Young was charged with two counts of felony burglary on May 4 when he allegedly stole candy, cigars and a bottle of water from a gas station in Orange County. He then was arrested at 12:01 a.m. on May 5 in Riverside County on suspicion of driving under the influence.

After signing a notice to appear on that charge, Young again was thrown in jail, 15 hours later, for trying to steal his Mustang convertible from an impound lot.

Finally on May 10, Young allegedly broke into a San Clemente home and was charged with felony burglary and five misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer, the Free Press reported.
