Lauren Hill continues to be an inspiration for us all.

A basketball player at the small-time College of Mount St. Joseph's in Cincinnati, Hill has been battling terminal brain cancer, with a prognosis of just months to live (her tumor in inoperable). The Fighting Saints have opened the season with a series of road games, but Saturday was their first appearance in front of a Harrington Center home crowd of 2,000 people.

And Lauren did not disappoint her legion of fans -- she scored the first points of the game, to overwhelming enthusiasm. Hill had previously scored in two road games earlier in the season.

"This was my dream, to score on this floor, and it felt amazing," Hill told WLWT, an NBC affiliate.

"Lauren gets us through it. Her smile, her coming here energizes her teammates. And she knows that, and it's vice versa," added her coach, Dan Benjamin.

Hill is slated to begin hospice care immediately, according to her parents, and doctors do not expect her to make it to 2015. How wonderful it is therefore, for Lauren to have given us one more example of the indomitability of the human spirit.
